Tested on RTX 4070 12GB desktop. If you own an RTX 5070 (12GB), expect ~25% higher framerates and enhanced Blackwell DLSS 4 support. AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT (16GB) and RX 6700 XT (12GB) users enjoy the exact same buffer immunity against 8GB VRAM texture degradation.
The definitive 1440p sweet spot with safe 12GB-16GB VRAM headroom.
The 12GB GDDR6X buffer provides plenty of margin for high-resolution mipmaps and complex ray tracing acceleration structures without spillover.
Full Path Tracing (Overdrive) at native 1440p requires DLSS Performance mode and Frame Generation to sustain 60+ FPS.
Tested on physical retail hardware builds. Frame rates reflect gameplay sequences.

12GB of VRAM represents the modern baseline for uncompromised PC gaming at 1440p. This profile serves as the benchmark reference for mid-to-high tier hardware, ensuring players avoid the texture degradation and frame pacing spikes endemic to 8GB graphics cards.
The RTX 5070 (Blackwell architecture) operates with faster GDDR7 memory and 4th-gen RT cores. In our preliminary runs, RTX 5070 achieves roughly 20-28% higher minimum frame rates in heavy ray tracing titles.
In standard rasterization (non-RT), the RX 7800 XT actually performs 5-10% faster than the RTX 4070 thanks to its 16GB buffer and wider 256-bit bus. In heavy ray tracing, RTX 4070 leads by ~25%.
